The €11m EU-backed Foresea marine energy programme has today opened its first call for support applications.
Successful applicants for the Foresea (Funding Ocean Renewable Energy through Strategic European Action) programme will be able to freely test marine energy technologies in real sea conditions at the project’s network of centres.
The call for applications is open to parties that wish to deploy technologies for testing before June 2018.
Preference will be given to technologies ready for deployment in 2016 and early 2017. The deadline for applications is 21 September.
The Foresea project was launched earlier this month to help developers test and demonstrate low-carbon energy technologies at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney, Ireland’s SmartBay, Sem-Rev in France and Tidal Testing Centre in the Netherlands.
“Foresea provides an important test and validation pathway for ocean energy technology developers in their journey towards commercialisation,” said SmartBay general manager John Breslin.
“We look forward to working with developers through the programme to help them get their technologies into the water to contribute to the growth of the ocean renewables sector”.
Further information can be found in the call documents on the Foresea website.
