New York tidal developer Verdant Power has established a joint venture with Ireland’s Belleville Duggan Renewables to develop projects in Ireland and the UK.
The Roosevelt Island company said Verdant Isles has plans to set up a manufacturing base that will become part of a global supply chain for marine energy devices.
It will also conduct further research into Ireland’s accessible energy resources, citing Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland’s 900MWh per year estimate of viable tidal resources in Irish waters.
“The establishment of Verdant Isles allows Verdant Power to develop opportunities in Ireland and the UK by partnering with a locally-based EPC renewable energy contractor and developer with whom the company has established a strong working relationship,” said Verdant Power co-founder Trey Taylor.
