The Maritime Management Organisation has issued a marine license to US developer GWave for the installation of its under-construction 9MW device at Wave Hub in Cornwall.
The Maine wave outfit will start work in May 2018 on moorings and anchors with deployment of the device set for next July, as first reported in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
GWave will moor its 12,850-tonne Power Generation Vessel via six 8-metre long anchor piles each connected to the device via 50-metre chains.
The 72-metre long Power Generation Vessel being built in Louisiana by shipyard Gulf Island Fabrication is expected to operate for 10 years with decommissioning slated for summer 2028.
