SmartBay Ireland has received international certification for its health, safety, environment and quality management system at the Galway Bay marine and renewable energy test site.
The bespoke system, which covers employees, partners, subcontractors and all users of the test site, was audited by SGS Ireland.
SmartBay Ireland was awarded accreditation under OHSAS 18001:2007 occupational health and safety, ISO 14001:2004 environment and ISO 9001:2008 quality standards.
The system was developed in-house over 12 months by SmartBay and Myton Systems, with support from the Marine Institute and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
It incorporates the principles of each standard and applies them to the requirements associated with the management and operation of the test site.
Internal and external audits of the system will also take place to continually refine and improve the system, measure performance and assess the impacts of activities at the test site, SmartBay said.
