Dutch developer Tidal Bridge has started the feasibility study for an 800-metre floating bridge on Indonesia’s Larantuka Strait featuring an 18-23MW tidal power plant.
The Palmerah Tidal Bridge project is the brainchild of a joint venture between Dutch companies Strukton International and Dutch Expansion Capital.
After realising the first phase, the project could be followed by an extension of the tidal power plant to 90-115MW.
The start of this feasibility study follows the signing of a head of agreement in April 2016 with the Indonesian ministry of public works.
Tidal Bridge is the first project to be part of a Dutch-Indonesian cooperation in the area of water works.
The project is endorsed by the Dutch ministry of infrastructure and environment.
