The EU-funded Marinet 2 programme will open its first call offering free access to wave and tidal technology research and test facilities on 10 April.
The €10.5m project aims to help industry accelerate the development of offshore renewable energy technologies and infrastructure by opening up access to 57 test facilities across 13 European countries.
The facilities include the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney, Tecnalia’s electrical power take-off lab in Spain, and Queen’s University Belfast’s Portaferry tidal test centre and shallow water wave tank in Northern Ireland.
The project is co-ordinated by the Centre for Marine and Renewable Energy at University College Cork.
Over 178 projects and 800 companies took part in the first Marinet programme over a four-and-a-half year period, which ended in 2016.
