Swedish tidal kite developer Minesto has launched a tender for a marine mammal detection sonar system for its Holyhead Deep project off Anglesey.
Minesto seeks a supplier or a consortium of suppliers to deliver a complete MMDS system that can detect and track marine mammals within 60m from its 500kW tidal kite and 80m from the turbine foundation.
The MMDS system will log the detected object types or observation of seal activities in the observation area and be able to sound an alarm. The data logging must be done automatically, the company said.
The tender closes on 27 July. The estimates award date is 19 August.
