Protean Wave Energy has completed the first phase of its wave energy converter demo at the Port of Bunbury in Western Australia.
The company said the performance of the pilot converter is currently being assessed, ahead of deployment of additional units.
It said two other converters have been fabricated and are fitted with GPS tracking and remote sensor equipment to collect performance data.
Protean said it will deploy the next two converters following completion of final testing of the data collection equipment and evaluation of the performance of the first unit.
Data from the demo will be evaluated for a pre-feasibility assessment that is targeting the deployment of the company’s first commercial pilot wave farm, the company said.
