The Scottish government and local partners have launched a new funding program to accelerate the delivery of innovative low carbon infrastructure projects in the country.
The Low Carbon Infrastructure Transition Program (LCITP) will provide up to £20m per project where this represents no more than 50% of total capital value.
Smaller aggregated projects that can demonstrate a transformational impact on the way that Scotland generates and uses energy are also welcome to apply, the government said.
The program targets innovative projects that incorporate one or more low carbon technologies and that can offer tangible economic, social and low carbon benefits.
They will also showcase commercially-viable technologies and encourage wider uptake and replication in communities across the region.
The LCITP is a working partnership between the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands & Islands Enterprise, Scottish Futures Trust and sector specialists.
The partnership is supported by the new 2014–2020 European Regional Development Fund program and has a total of £76 million to invest in low carbon infrastructure projects, of which £33 million through ERDF.
Financial support for projects will be considered on a repayable basis in the first instance.

“This fund is another example of the benefits of Scotland remaining in the EU and the single market as The Low Carbon Infrastructure Transition Programme (LCITP) is supported by the 2014 – 2020 European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).”
