James Fisher has completed the upgrade of Wave Hub paving the way for grid-connected wave devices to be deployed at the Cornish test site.
The works included the installation of four 33kV cable extensions totalling 6km laid from the Wave Hub Safety Zone out to each developer berth.
The job also included the installation of associated cable connectors, bend restrictors and abrasion protection, as well as cable support and stabilisation measures.
The upgrade suffered a two-month delay after onshore remedial work was required. It is understood cable components suffered from corrosion.
The delay meant Finnish wave developer Wello suspended deployment of the first of three 1MW Penguin devices at Wave Hub initially slated for July.
The device is expected to be installed in the autumn.
