The marine energy sector in Wales has set up a new industry body to help drive the industry forward in the country.
Marine Energy Wales, which was launched today at the Ocean Energy Europe 2016 conference in Brussels, has evolved out of Marine Energy Pembrokeshire.
It has 90 working group members including technology developers, supply chain companies, academia and statutory bodies.
The new body said Wales has €100.4m of EU structural funds dedicated to marine energy, two demonstration zones and a skilled and experienced supply chain, as well as support from Welsh government.
“Marine Energy Wales will bring the industry together, encouraging collaboration and providing support to continue this forward momentum,” it added.
Members include Carnegie, Marine Power Systems, Minesto, Morlais, Nova Innovation, Tidal Lagoon Power and Wave Hub.
