Zephir Lidar is offering its Zephir 300M lidar wind measurement system equipped to substations at offshore wind farms.
The company said the meteorological monitoring module can provide remote wind measurements up to 200 metres in height without the need for a traditional met mast.
Zephir has appointed Engie Fabricom to provide the engineering and construction of the lidar for the module.
The partners said two contracts are already in place for the solution at two unnamed offshore wind farms, with more details to be released next year.
Zephir Lidar head of business development Matthew Smith said: “By utilising an existing offshore asset, the offshore substation, we are simply adding value at a very low cost that would otherwise be tens of millions of pounds to achieve.”
