The Berlin Renewables Academy (RENAC) is to offer its ‘Green Energy Finance Specialist’ course twice a year in response to growing demand from the financial sector.
The courses will be held in April and October providing “valuable practical knowledge” for financiers and project developers, to reduce risk for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
The demand for specialists in the field of financing renewable energy systems in accordance with international standards will continue to grow in the coming years, RENAC predicts.
The ‘Green Energy Finance Specialist’ course was developed in 2017 and was awarded the German Innovation Prize for Climate and Environment (IKU) as part of the ‘Green Banking’ project in south-east Asia.
“It is important for financiers to know technology-specific risks and risk avoidance strategies. This provides a comprehensive overview of the right assessment criteria at an early stage,” said RENAC chief executive Berthold Breid.
“We are, therefore, delighted with the successful completion of the fully booked initial training,” he said.
“This shows the high demand for additional qualifications in this field. Only with this know-how in the financial sector can renewable energy projects be seriously evaluated both economically and technically,” Breid added.
The course, in English, consists of a 20-week online training schedule with eight different focal points and a three-day seminar in Berlin.
It is accredited by the Financial Accreditation Agency.
Graduates can obtain credits for the new blended learning programme ‘Master of Science in Business Management’ with a focus on ‘Green Energy and Climate Finance’.
This will be offered from October 2020 by RENAC in cooperation with the Berlin Professional School of the Berlin School of Economics and Law.
