Chinese green technology company Envision has announced plans to be carbon neutral across its operations by 2022.
Envision has also pledged to become the first Chinese company to become carbon neutral across its whole value chain by 2028.
The claims were made in the company’s first carbon neutrality report which was published last week.
In order to become operationally carbon neutral by next year, Envision says it will offset over 400,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent through energy conservation, increased green energy consumption and the purchase of carbon credits.
Envision’s global carbon emissions were calculated with the help of The Carbon Trust, an international independent consulting organisation.
The company also debuted its “Envision Ark Carbon Management System”, which monitors the real-time carbon footprints of companies and organisations, at its Net Zero Day event in Shanghai on Friday.
Envision Group chief executive Zhang Lei said: “Addressing the challenges posed by climate change are critical to the survival of humanity. As a green technology company, Envision’s mission is to solve the challenges for a sustainable future.
“We have set up a challenging goal and roadmap for ourselves: we will take the lead in achieving carbon neutrality, empower our partners to accelerate carbon neutrality, and help build a net-zero economic system.”
