European Energy and IFU Investment Fund for Developing Countries are sending coronavirus assistance to Brazil.
The package includes 26,400 face masks, 4500 litres of sanitising alcohol, 4500 packets of food and 18,000 units of soap.
The items will be handed out to 1100 Brazilian households as part of a covid-19 aid programme launched by the partners.
Brazil has recorded over 21 million positive cases of the virus and its economy has been heavily affected by the pandemic.
European Energy, in collaboration with several Brazilian municipalities, is targeting its assistance programme in areas where it is active in Brazil with renewable energy projects.
IFU has provided financial support for the programme, which is active for the remainder of 2021.
“We want to make a positive difference in the areas where we develop our renewable energy projects.
“Brazil has been hit hard by the covid-19 pandemic, and we have seen an obvious opportunity to give back to the local community,” said Jens-Peter Zink, senior vice president of European Energy.
The 1100 households have been selected by the local Brazilian authorities to receive face masks, sanitising alcohol and food in five rounds from August to December in 2021.
European Energy is in the process of developing and building three wind farms in Brazil, which are the Ouro Branco 1 and 2 as well as Quatro Ventos, with a total of 94.5MW capacity.
European Energy expects the projects to be connected to the electricity grid by the end of 2022.
