Spanish energy industry association Club Espanol de la Energia (CEE) has recognised renewables publication reNEWS with a prestigious award for news coverage of the green energy sector.
The subscriber-only publication and online news service was awarded the gong in the category ‘Energy: Innovation’.
The accolade is in “recognition of the work of dissemination and better knowledge carried out on energy issues”, according to CEE.
President Miguel Antoñanzas Alvear (pictured, right) and Siemens Gamesa marketing director Juan Diego Diaz Vega (left) presented the award to reNEWS Spain correspondent Lisa Louis at a ceremony in Madrid on Monday.
Speaking at the event, the 29th CEE awards, Alvear said the media’s role in the fight against climate change is fundamental.
“We need the coverage, as despite the Paris climate agreement CO2 emissions have gone up over the past two years,” he said in front of about 100 business leaders and politicians.
Other winners at the event include Juan Cruz Pena from daily El Confidencial in the category “Petrol”, José María Camarero from news agency Colpisa in the area “Electricity”.
