The offshore wind sector is undergoing a “reality check” after years of over hyped ambitions.
That’s according to Skyborn chief executive Patrick Lammers, who was speaking to the first episode of The reNEWS Podcast.
Lammers said the sector has been affected by “overhype and the willingness” of some players to go “opportunistically and audaciously into projects” with “no credibility of delivering”.
Meanwhile, the boss of the offshore wind infrastructure platform addressed what is needed from government to revive the industry.
“It’s very simple, if the government sets out a framework in which we can operate in, let’s say a way where we know what the risk we’re actually going into, we know the financial framework around it and what the regulation framework is around it, then it can function,” he said.
He also spoke in detail about the company’s Gennaker offshore wind farm off Germany and a recent visit to Chinese OEM Mingyang.
