Danish company PolyTech, which provides solutions to the wind turbine industry, has been awarded UN Sustainable Development Goals certification by Bureau Veritas.
Certification means PolyTech has successfully integrated the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals into its business strategy.
The company said the 17 goals are central to its business strategy and objectives.
PolyTech said it is the first company in the wind turbine industry to receive such recognition anywhere in the world.
PolyTech chief executive Mads Kirkegaard (pictured) said: “We have chosen to become SDG certified to emphasise to our customers, partners and employees that we are wholeheartedly committed to promoting the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
“Sustainability and accountability are essential to the products and services we offer.
“Companies without a declared positive attitude towards the SDGs will eventually become unattractive to both employees and customers.
“In addition, the SDGs are an excellent framework for ensuring focus on the areas where we at PolyTech can make the biggest difference.
“For PolyTech, it is absolutely essential that we take an active part in overcoming the social and climatic challenges that the world still faces, explains , who heads up approximately 800 employees globally.”
The company said certification is only a first step on a long SDG journey that will have a pervasive impact on the wind turbine company’s business strategy.
Kirkegaard added: “In our 2025 strategy, everything from product development to production processes and procedures has been reviewed to ensure that the Global Goals are incorporated.
“When a company starts to implement the Global Goals, it is important that it does not become a process that is decoupled from the daily business processes, but instead forms an integral part of the way everyone at the company thinks about business.”
