Once fully operational, the 1GW project is expected to generate 2.4bn kWh annually while creating 1,600 local jobs.
A grid connection ceremony attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was held to mark the occasion.
The project forms part of the collaboration between China and Central Asia in building green infrastructure along the Belt and Road initiative.
