Acciona Energía has signed a PPA with medical technology firm Zimmer Biomet to supply it with 100% renewable electricity in Spain for 12 years.
The energy delivered will come from the Cristo Bailones solar plant in the province of Ciudad Real.
With a capacity of 42MWp, the plant is currently under development and its entry into operation is estimated at the end of 2024, at which time the supply will begin.
Through the agreement, Zimmer Biomet will achieve a more sustainable energy model in Europe, advancing its decarbonization goals.
With the deal, Acciona Energy will continue to increase the volume of new supply contracts and PPAs in the medium and long term for corporate customers.
Its commercial director Javier Montes said: “By signing long-term contracts like this one, we reaffirm our commitment to decarbonization, accompanying our clients in their energy transition, providing them with competitive renewable energy that, in addition, will help them reduce their energy supply costs.”
The development of the Cristo Bailones photovoltaic plant is being carried out in the same area as another Acciona wind farm.
This entails several advantages, including better use of space and electrical infrastructure and reduced environmental impact, Acciona said.
