Indian renewables group Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has added 1GW of solar capacity at its Khavda renewable energy park in Gujarat.
The additions have brought the project’s total operational capacity to 9478MW.
AGEL delivered the 1GW of solar capacity in less than 12 months of commencing work at Khavda. This involved installing approximately 2.4m solar modules.
The Khavda renewable energy park has a planned total capacity of 30,000MW of capacity spread out over 538 square kilometres.
The project is expected to be completed in the next five years.
Leveraging the proven project execution capabilities of Adani Infra, technological expertise of Adani New Industries Ltd, operational excellence of AIMSL, robust supply chain, AGEL is set to replicate its success in building and operating India’s first wind-solar hybrid cluster at Jaisalmer, said the company.
AGEL has also committed to deploy waterless cleaning robots at Khavda for the entire solar capacity to address dust accumulation on panels to increase the energy output and help conserve water in the arid Kutch region.
This will enable AGEL’s water neutrality goals aligned to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6.
