Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, has achieved commercial operation of the 78MW Barren Ridge solar photovoltaic project in Kern County, California.
The project, also known as the RE Cinco, started construction in fall 2015 and created 230 peak construction jobs.
In November 2015, US Bancorp Community Development Corp (LADWP) made a tax equity investment in the solar farm.
The project supplies electricity and associated renewable energy credits to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power under a long-term power purchase agreement.
Recurrent Energy also constructed two miles of transmission lines to connect the solar project to LADWP’s Barren Ridge switching station.
