BayWa Renewable Energy has sold seven photovoltaic parks in the Netherlands totalling 80MW to Encavis Asset Management.
The facilities, all built last year, include a 21.8MW ground-mounted installation at Groningen Airport Eelde and the Tynaarlo and Sekdoorn floating solar farms, which together total 23MW.
The sales are the first from BayWa RE’s Dutch solar asset portfolio and follow previous wind and solar farm sales to Encavis.
Encavis management board spokesperson Karsten Mieth said: “The acquisition of these seven solar plants in the Netherlands, especially during COVID-19, is particularly satisfying because it shows that BayWa RE and Encavis are strong and reliable partners.”
BayWa board member Matthias Taft added: “This sale is further evidence that our decision to enter the Dutch market was absolutely the right thing to do.
“Working with GroenLeven, we have a strong development pipeline and have grown the team on the ground fivefold to manage our presence and activities here in the Netherlands. We expect this initial success to be matched as we head into the second half of 2020.”
Further sales of already built Dutch solar parks are planned for the coming months, said BayWa RE.
BayWa RE and GroenLeven have one of the largest floating PV pipelines in Europe, with plans to build a further 100MW across the continent in 2020.
