JBM Solar has completed the sale of two solar farms in England with a combined capacity of almost 100MW to BayWa RE.
The two consented developments have a combined solar capacity of 99.8MW.
One project, Corner Copse, is located near Swindon and the other, Scurf Dyke, is situated north of Hull, in East Riding of Yorkshire.
Both projects are fully consented and are expected to come on stream in 2023.
The projects are designed with the latest bifacial module technology and co-located on-site battery-storage.
Both developments are expected to generate enough clean energy to power the equivalent of 28,000 average UK homes annually.
The projects will include additional landscaping and ecology mitigation measures, resulting in a net biodiversity gain for each site.
JBM has developed these projects as part of its ambitious commitment to deliver its 2GW UK pipeline in the next 3 years.
JBM director and co-founder David Cramer said: “We are pleased to close the sale of these first two subsidy-free projects, demonstrating JBM’s ability to deliver high quality solar assets with long-term financial and sustainability benefits.
“We are also delighted to contribute to BayWa RE’s long-term renewable energy aspirations.
“This is an exciting milestone in delivering a strategy we put in place in late 2018.
“It marks the first step in JBM’s ambitious goal to develop a multi-GW pipeline of solar and storage facilities for the UK energy market.
“Solar remains a key part of the UK energy mix, especially if we are to achieve the government’s net zero targets.
“We are excited by the opportunities in this growing and vibrant market and look forward to continuing to deliver high quality projects.”
BayWa RE UK managing director Gordon MacDougall said: “The acquisition of these projects from JBM Solar, is an important part of our continued development and investment in our pipeline.
“A core focus for BayWa RE is working in partnership with organisations committed to supporting the global energy transition to a low carbon environment.”
