Canadian Solar has started commercial operations of three solar photovoltaic power plants in Japan, totaling 6.2 MWp.
The projects are the 2.3MWp Ashikita plant in Kumamoto City in Kumamoto Prefecture, the 2.2MWp Minamishimabara East facility and the 1.7MWp Minamishimabara West project in Minamishimabara City in Nagasaki Prefecture.
Ashikita is powered by 9030 Canadian Solar CS6P-260P modules. It achieved commercial operation on 11 December.
Minamishimabara East is powered by 8602 CS6P-260P units and achieved commercial operation on 25 December.
Minamishimabara West consists of 6509 CS6P-260P modules and became operational on 29 January.
The electricity generated by all three plants will be purchased by Kyushu Electric Power under a 20-year feed-in-tariff contract at the rate of ¥40.00 ($0.34) per kWh.
