Canadian Solar has acquired an 80.6MW solar project in Brazil from an unnamed company.
The Guimarania project, which is located in the state of Minas Gerais, will be built by Canadian Solar and comprise modules from its local factory in Brazil.
The solar plant has a 20-year power purchase agreement to sell electricity to CCEE for BRL290 ($92) per megawatt-hour, the developer said.
Construction will start in early 2018, with commercial operations scheduled for the fourth quarter of that year.
Canadian Solar chairman and chief executive Shawn Qu said: “We will continue to evaluate additional opportunities in this important emerging market so as to accelerate the adoption of the affordable, reliable and clean solar energy across the country.”
