Global developer Canadian Solar is teaming up with Biosar Australia to jointly provide engineering, procurement and construction services to a 256MW solar project for Total Eren.
Construction of the Kiamal solar project, in the Australian state of Victoria, will start this month. It is expected to reach commercial operation by mid-2019.
Kiamal is the first Australian investment by Total Eren, a French independent power producer, in which Total has a 23% stake.
The project has secured several power purchase agreements with energy retailers, such as Flow Power and Alinta Energy, as well as one with food company Mars Australia.
Canadian Solar is supplying over 720,000 of its modules to be installed on single-axis solar tracking systems.
When completed, Kiamal is expected to be the single largest solar power plant in Victoria.
