Ciel & Terre International has secured Approval in Principle Level 1 from Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore for its new Fusio floating solar system.
The certification validates the design of the technology and confirms the conformity and reliability of its anchoring approach, the company said.
Bureau Veritas assessed the floating structure, mechanical interfaces for cabling and mooring, the station keeping system and electrical specifications related to cabling, according to the announcement.
The review incorporated CFD, wind tunnel tests and structural engineering documents and found no conflict with rules for inland or calm water applications.
Fusio features a honeycomb float architecture designed for improved mechanical strength, broad site adaptability, reduced long-term fatigue and integrated electrical and mooring systems.
Ciel & Terre said independent assessment was essential to validate the performance and durability principles of the new structure.
Obtaining AiP reinforces the credibility of Fusio for producers, investors and authorities, the company added.
“This approval in principle confirms the solid work undertaken by our R&D teams and our desire to raise the standards for floating solar power. Fusio marks a turning point in our ability to support ever more ambitious projects,” said Stéphane Prouvost, director of the Ciel & Terre division.
The company said Fusio has already been installed on three projects exposed to extreme wind and wave conditions for two years without damage.
