PS Renewables and Orsted Onshore have proposed the 500MW Clean Air Solar Farm in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
The companies said the scheme could generate enough electricity to power around 160,000 UK homes and would be classed as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project.
They added that the project would be decided by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, with a planning decision expected in 2028 and potential operation by 2033.
The proposal spans two sites, including land three miles north of Beverley and a southern parcel southwest of the A1079, with a grid connection planned via Wanlass Beck substation.
The project was previously introduced as Kingfisher Solar Farm but has been revised with a new partner, updated site boundary and new name.
“Since we first introduced Kingfisher Solar Farm, there have been significant changes,” said Randall Linfoot, Clean Air Solar Farm team member.
“The project was originally developed to make use of spare grid capacity associated with Ørsted’s Hornsea 4 offshore wind project.”
