Cubico Sustainable Investments has acquired the operational 99.8MW Andasol 1&2 concentrated solar plants in Spain from Antin Infrastructure Partners and Deutsche Asset Management and the Spanish construction company Cobra Sistemas y Redes.
The plants, which are both located in Granada, use parabolic trough thermosolar technology with 7.5 hours of thermal salt storage, which, combined with a solar field allows the plants to generate electricity through the night.
Cubico said it also will integrate Andasol’s existing 13 employees into its organisation.
Cubico head of Europe, Middle East and Africa David Swindin said: “This is an important acquisition for Cubico and adds to our growing portfolio of renewable energy assets, improving the balance of our portfolio and increasing the proportion of energy we produce from solar sources.
“We remain keen to invest further in Europe and continue to look for other opportunities.”
