DTE Energy has installed the first of nearly 200,000 solar panels at its 45MW Lapeer solar project in Michigan.
The project will consist of two solar farms with capacity of 30MW and 15MW.
DTE said construction work will create approximately 150 temporary jobs and at least five permanent jobs when the projects are operational.
Both projects are expected to be complete by the end of the year.
The larger project is located on approximately 150 acres off Demille Road, while the second facility is off Turrill Road on 100 acres of land, the company said.
DTE said all of the electricity generated by the projects will be fed into the grid and “distributed to those who need it”.
The company added it has three other solar projects currently under development in Ypsilanti at the GM Warren transmission plant and in Detroit.
