A 155MW solar farm in Romania, said to be the largest in south-east Europe, has been officially inaugurated.
The Rătești project is a JV betweeen Israeli companies Econergy Renewable Energy and Nofar Energy,
The pair said the site represents the largest investment in renewable PV energy in Romania, worth €102m.
Covering an area of 170 hectares, the park is expected to produce around 220GWh of electricity annually.
The project is currently in the testing phase and will be commissioned “in the coming period”.
Econergy Romania country manager Bogdan Asanache (pictured) said: “It is truly a solar day for us today.
“As we stand today at the largest photovoltaic park in Romania, we see how the renewable energy sector is rapidly developing in Romania.
“This photovoltaic park in Ratesti is Econergy’s first to be connected to Romania, and there are 2.3GW of development capacity, along with 410MW are under construction or in operation throughout the country, ensuring energy independence and decarbonizing the energy sector.
“The Romanian market is a key market in southeast Europe striving to meet the 2030 goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”
