EDF Energies Nouvelles has joined the Masdar-led consortium developing the 800MW third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar farm in Dubai.
The 16 square-km project will be built in three stages, with the 200MW phase A under construction and scheduled for completion by April next year.
The 300MW phase B is expected to come online in April 2019, while the final 300MW tranche is scheduled to be operational by April 2020.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park has a planned capacity of 5GW by 2030, and will represent a total investment of $14bn.
The 200MW second phase was inaugurated earlier this week.
