EDF Renewables is submitting a planning application for an almost 50MW solar farm at Tye Lane near Bramford in Suffolk, England.
The application to Mid Suffolk District Council follows feedback from local stakeholders and residents during a six-week public consultation.
EDF Renewables has also carried out a number of ecological and feasibility studies to refine its plans for the 49.9MW project.
The council will now consider the application and carry out its own public consultation on EDF Renewables’ plans, before reaching a decision.
EDF said solar panel heights have been reduced to lessen the impact for residents that live close by, more planting is proposed to act as screening, and there is a greater set back between the panels and boundaries of properties.
There will also be more space between the rows of panels and a greater buffer from footpaths, it said.
The company is also proposing a comprehensive plan to improve biodiversity on site, including planting a tree belt, new hedges and wildflower meadow cultivation.
EDF Renewables planning and consent manager Darren Cuming said: “We are grateful for the feedback we received during the consultation, and are pleased to have been able to accommodate many excellent suggestions made to us in this final planning application, and mitigate some of the concerns held.
“What came through strongly is that people understand that action is needed to tackle the climate and nature emergencies, accept that solar is part of the answer, but want projects to be sensitively developed.
“EDF Renewables is an experienced developer, and we are firmly committed to solar as a technology which will help us accelerate a net zero future where clean energy powers all our lives.”
