EDPR NA Distributed Generation (EDPR NA DG has unveiled plans for a solar-storage project in Arizona for Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC).
The 23.27MW(dc) ground-mount solar array system coupled with a 15MW/60 megawatt-hour (MWh) energy storage system for Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) will help it provide renewable power and mitigate peak period energy use.
“We are pleased to be working with EDP Renewables on Mohave Electric Cooperative’s first solar plus storage project,” said Mohave Electric Cooperative chief executive Tyler Carlson.
“This project demonstrates MEC’s proactive planning to increase reliability, meet renewable energy mandates, and support the overall electrical grid.”
EDPR NA DG and MEC held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and on-site tour on 25 October to inaugurate the new solar array.
“This solar plus storage project is a prime example of how MEC – and cooperatives in general – have the power to provide equitable access to clean energy for its members and communities all while providing the framework for a more resilient grid,” stated EDPR NA DG chief executive Gustavo Monteiro.
