Enel Green Power (EGP) Brasil Participações has started commercial operations at its 158MW Lapa solar facility in Bahia in Brazil.
The company invested $175m in the project, which consists of two plants – the 80MW Bom Jesus da Lapa and the 78MW Lapa schemes.
The projects are supported by 20-year supply contracts with the Brazilian Chamber of Commercialisation of Electric Energy.
They will generate about 340 gigawatt hours of electricity a year, EGP said.
Enel country manager in Brazil Carlo Zorzoli said: “We were able to complete and commission Lapa more than two months ahead of the deadline set by the rules of the 2015 public tender which awarded us the project.”
Enel was also awarded the 103MW Horizonte and the 292MW Nova Olinda solar projects in the tender, both of which are currently under construction.
