Enel on triple time for Spanish PV

Enel adds 180MW shine in Peru

Enel Green Power Espana has begun constructing three photovoltaic plants with an overall capacity of 127MW and a total investment of €100m.

The Navalvillar, Valdecaballero and Castilblanco solar projects are slated to enter into service by the end of 2019.

The plants, with an installed capacity of more than 42MW each, are located in the municipalities of Casas de Don Pedro and Talarrubias, in the Badajoz province.

Enel head of global renewable energy Antonio Cammisecra said: “These three projects further strengthen our presence in Spain, where we have started construction of 10 new renewable projects over the last two months.

The 10 projects, with an overall capacity of 339MW, were awarded to EGPE in the Spanish government’s third renewable energy auction, held in July 2017.

EGPE was also awarded 540 MW of wind power in the May 2017 renewable tender. The combined 879 MW of wind and solar power awarded in these auctions will represent an overall investment of more than €800 million euros by 2020, boosting EGPE’s portfolio by over 50%.

“In addition to actively expanding the company’s presence in the country, our aim is to continue promoting innovation by applying cutting-edge technologies based on digitalisation and robotisation, as well as sustainability by implementing best practices already in place in our construction sites worldwide,” Cammisecra said.

The building phase of the three projects will be based on Enel Green Power’s ‘Sustainable Construction Site’ model, to streamline the building phase and support reliable data collection. Construction works will be powered by a 20kW PV system. Labour will also be recruited from the local population in this phase.

EGPE will also use other advanced construction techniques and tools, including drones for topographic surveys, smart tracking of panels and other components, in addition to digital platforms and software to monitor construction progress and quality as well as remotely support site activities and plant commissioning.
