Engie subsidiary Ausar Energy has signed a deal with Gabonese financial institution Caisse des Depots et Consignations to develop eight hybrid solar plants in the African country with a combined capacity of 2.2MW.
Construction of the projects is scheduled to start in a few weeks, Engie said.
The photovoltaic projects will deliver power to areas of the country previously supplied with oil-fired power generation.
Ausar Energy and CDC will also collaborate with the Gabonese Ministry of Energy and local energy and water company Societe d’Energie et d’Eau du Gabon on the plants.
