ESB picks Voltalia to construct Irish PV duo

reNEWS EditorialBy reNEWS EditorialJuly 25, 20251 Min Read
ESB exports first power from 108MW Timahoe

ESB has chosen Voltalia to construct two new solar farms in Ireland with a total capacity of almost 93MW.

Voltalia has been awarded two turnkey engineering, procurement and construction contracts (EPC) for the projects.

The contracts cover the construction of the 43.7MW Carriglong solar power plant and the 49.2MW Clashwilliam solar power plant.

These projects mark the fourth collaboration between Voltalia and ESB since 2023. Voltalia’s track record includes the 108MW Timahoe North solar park (pictured) in County Kildare for the ESB-Bord na Móna joint venture, and the 75MW Middleton House solar farm in County Longford.

Since the summer of 2024, Voltalia has been awarded construction contracts for more than 600MW in Ireland, in addition to the 365MW already commissioned in the country since 2022.

“We are pleased to continue our collaboration with ESB for these two projects,” said Voltalia chief executive Robert Klein. “These new services contracts further consolidate our expanding presence in Ireland.”
