The European Commission has launched an €85m low carbon energy investment fund.
Proposals for funding must be lodged by 8 September with six areas supported under the budget.
Some €25m is being made available in a bid to increase competitiveness in EU-based solar PV manufacturing, the commission said.
A further €10m is up for grabs to those who can offer solutions to reduce maintenance, increase reliability and extend the life of offshore wind turbines.
Other areas include scaling up ocean energy arrays and biofuels.
