European Energy has signed a virtual power purchase agreement (PPA) to meet renewable electricity demand for the UK drinks business of Asahi Europe & International (AEI).
The multi-year virtual PPA will enable AEI to offtake power production from the 19MW Marksbury Plain solar project, located near Bath in south-west of England.
The project has planning permission approved by Bath & Northeast Somerset Council in July 2022 and construction is scheduled to commence in the coming months.
The deal supports AEI in its wider sustainability ambition to be carbon neutral across all its European breweries by 2030.
Director of European Energy UK Adam Spearey said: “European Energy has developed a strong pipeline of solar and wind projects across the UK, which we will build out over the coming years.
