An affiliate of DE Shaw Renewable Investments has acquired the 11MW Rancho Seco solar project in Sacramento County, California from First Solar.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The project is located on 60 acres owned by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, which holds a 20-year power purchase agreement for electricity from the plant.
The Golden 1 Center, currently under construction for the Sacramento Kings basketball team, will obtain approximately 85% of its power from the project.
Rancho Seco consists of First Solar thin film modules mounted on single-axis tracking tables and is built on the site of the decommissioned Rancho Seco nuclear plant.
