Flow Power has signed a foundational offtake agreement with Octopus Australia for the Blind Creek Solar Farm and Battery project in New South Wales.
Flow Power said the agreement underpins the project, which recently reached financial close at $900m and combines 300MW of solar with a 243MW/486MWh battery.
Octopus Australia added the partnership supports delivery of firmed renewable energy to the grid, with the battery enabling supply during peak periods.
The Blind Creek project is located in Bungendore and is being developed as a hybrid solar and storage facility.
Construction is underway with up to 300 jobs expected at peak and ongoing roles once operational.
The project is being delivered with EPC contractor GRS and Wärtsilä Energy Storage as battery supplier.
“Flow Power and Octopus Australia share a vision for the role of new technologies in driving a cleaner and more flexible energy system,” said Byron Serjeantson, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Flow Power.
“We’re proud to be a foundational partner, helping bring this impressive project to life.”
“Flow Power’s leadership in Australia’s renewable energy market established it as a natural partner for Blind Creek and Octopus Australia in the longer term,” said Sonia Teitel, co-managing director renewables at Octopus Australia.
“We’re looking forward to working together on this project that sets a new benchmark for firmed renewables in Australia.”
