Gazprom Energy is to buy 40MW of solar power from four Canadian Solar projects in the UK.
The 15-year deal will also provide Gazprom Energy, the retail subsidiary of Gazprom Marketing and Trading, with the Renewables Obligation Certificates associated with the electricity purchased.
The projects have been refinanced by Bayern LB with a £36.4m loan secured against the solar parks.
Gazprom Marketing and Trading originator Toon Van de Plas said: “This agreement is a great start in our collaboration with a global solar player providing Canadian Solar with a flexible route to market and making a significant renewable power contribution to the UK energy market.”
