Renewables developer Green Genius is to build a 100MW solar project in Latvia.
The company said it is one of the first projects of this scale in the Baltic country.
The project is expected to be fully authorised and ready for construction by June of this year and will have a total planned investment of €90m.
“Latvia has very good potential with attractive terms and reasonable regulation for solar PV development.
“We’ve been looking into it for quite some time now.
“I’m happy to announce a stepping into the project that will definitely have a tangible impact on Latvia’s sustainability and energy independence,” said Simonas Šileikis, Head of Solar Business at Green Genius.
The 100MW project is located in Jekabpils, in the central-eastern part of the country.
As one of the biggest solar power plants in Latvia, it will be built on a 151 hectare area.
