Spanish renewables developer Greenalia has entered the US market, through the acquisition of a 670MW solar project.
The project, in Texas, is at a ready-to-build phase and will begin construction over the next year.
Galician company Greenalia will add 170MW of battery storage to the project.
“The strong commitment and drive of the US Administration for renewable energies has opened an attractive window that we must take advantage of”, said Manuel Garcia, Greenalia CEO.
“With this strategic decision, the company diversifies its risk via its presence in two continents and, at the same time, increases its stability and certainty to achieve the objectives set out in our strategic plan”.
He said the US is a priority market for the company.
“The US is a country that adapts perfectly to our work philosophy, and so I am convinced that we will be able to have rapid growth in this market.”
In addition Greenalia plans to start processing additional solar, wind and storage projects in the medium term to add to its portfolio of over 3GW, based on onshore wind, offshore wind, solar solar photovoltaics and biomass.
