Hive Energy has received both environmental and planning approval for the 169MW Sabinar solar farm in Cuenca, Spain.
Sabinar is planned to cover an area of 333 hectares with construction anticipated in summer 2021.
It is the sister project to the approved 169MW Olmedilla facility and together with a third project – the 83MW Sabinar 2 – will generate 421MW of renewable energy.
The three solar parks together mark the continued roll out of Hive Energy’s 2.5GW pipeline of PV projects worldwide.
Olmedilla is owned by Noy Fund, which acquired the project in the Spring.
Hive Energy continues to own Sabinar is currently exploring options as to how to take the project forwards.
Hive general manager Spain Luis Martinez Hermida said: “Hive Energy’s belief is that renewable energy generation is the most important thing that is going to happen to our planet over the next 50 years.
“Reaching this milestone for Sabinar is another promising step on the journey to combatting climate change and delivering our 1.5GW pipeline of large-scale solar projects in Spain.”
