Ib vogt has signed a virtual power purchase agreement with a US-based technology company for a 70MW solar project in northwestern Romania.
The long-term contract marks a milestone for the developer and highlights the growing maturity of Romania’s corporate renewable procurement market.
The utility-scale plant will generate about 110GW of electricity annually. It will feature bifacial modules on single-axis trackers and has been designed with storage readiness.
Ib vogt will deliver turnkey engineering, procurement and construction services alongside long-term operations and maintenance.
Chief executive Andreas Schell said: “Securing this long-term vPPA for our PV project is a major milestone for Ib vogt in Romania. This agreement shows the maturity of the Romanian renewables market and the vital role of clean energy in decarbonising power grids.”
He added: “We are proud to drive this transition and confident it will open the door to more transformative partnerships in the region.”
Romania’s corporate PPA market remains at an early stage, with limited bankable long-term agreements to date, but is rapidly developing and expected to expand significantly.
