Iberdrola has placed two new photovoltaic plants into commercial operation in Wasco County, Oregon through its US subsidiary Avangrid.
The company said the Daybreak Solar facility at 189MWdc and the 80MWdc Bakeoven Solar plant together add 269MWdc of new capacity amid rising national electricity demand.
It added that both sites are already supplying power to Portland General Electric as part of a statewide programme to provide newly built energy for large municipal, industrial and commercial customers.
The programme is designed to give major customers such as Intel more agile and competitive access to new renewable capacity, according to the company.
Iberdrola stated that the entry into operation of the plants boosts the local economy and employment while reinforcing its commitment to the US, where it holds €49,400m in assets.
The group plans to invest €16,000m in the country through 2028 as it serves a population of nearly 10 million people across networks in New York, Maine, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
