US independent power producer Innergex Renewable Energy has acquired the under development 260MW Hillcrest solar project in Brown County, Ohio from Open Road Renewables and MAP Renewable Energy.
Hillcrest has successfully completed the Ohio Power Siting Board permitting process and was awarded the necessary certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need to Construct an Electric Generation Facility.
Interconnection service agreements are in place with regulator PJM to link to the Duke Energy-owned Hillcrest substation, which would allow a commercial operation date between 2020 and 2021.
Innergex said it has also started discussions to sell the electricity produced by the plant through a power purchase agreement.
The acquisition of the prospective project expands Innergex’s footprint in the US to seven states.
Innergex chief executive Michel Letellier said: “All major development milestones are completed, and we are optimistic signing a solid off-taker given Innergex’s strong reputation in bringing projects to execution.”
